The 'Do Makes A Comeback for Fall/Winter 2009November, 2009 (New York, NY) – The Fall/Winter season is upon us once again, and this season it's all about the 'do…hairstyles with a strong presence that push boundaries.
Tracy Hines, at Tracy Hines Studio, located in the Face Works Plus Salon in Brentwood, NH has access to the latest Fall/Winter 2009 hair trends direct from the runways, and this season she guides us through the looks we should ask our stylist to create when in the salon or use her product recommendations to create the looks at home.
Fall/Winter Hair Trend #1: New Classics“Timeless styles including chignons, French twists, and men's-inspired quiffs, are making a comeback on the runways,” says Hines. “These looks are made modern and relevant through the texture, shape and volume.” The most important element of this trend is getting the right texture and foundation in the hair. This is done by applying Redken thickening lotion 06 body builder to damp hair then rough drying with a blow-dryer. To achieve the classic French twist with height and texture as done at the Louis Vuitton show, after rough drying, curl hair to create even more texture, backcomb with a focus on the top and back of head then pin into a messy French twist. Don't worry about keeping every strand in place. The rough disheveled look is what makes this classic style modern, soft and romantic.
Fall/Winter Hair Trend #2: Height of Fashion“Volume is definitely a must-have look for the fall,” says Hines. “However, this season's volume is concentrated in the height of the look as seen on the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier, Pollini and Marc Jacobs, rather than all over volume.” To achieve the extreme height as seen at the Pollini runway in Milan, Hines suggests trying out rootful 06 root lifting spray. Mist product on damp hair concentrating at the roots then blow-dry hair upwards using a paddle brush, once dry, backcomb hair for added height and pin into a twist.
Fall/Winter Hair Trend #3: Masculine/Feminine“This look is a chic pairing of tough and soft, classically feminine styles toughened up with a slick finish, or a mixture of sleek and soft textures on the same head of hair,” describes Hines. “The hair at Versace was a nod to the'80s, with a cheeky combination of sleek up front and wild in the back.” To get this look, Hines suggests slicking on hardwear 16 super strong gel from roots to above the nape of neck and applying it in layers from the bottom up. Then curl remaining hair in random sections and backcomb to add fullness. Finish off the look with quick dry 18 instant finishing spray
Fall/Winter Hair Trend #4: Texture Variations“This season's styles featured unique finishes that complements every style,” exclaims Hines. “This was seen at shows like Prada, Chloé, and Calvin Klein.” For this trend, many women will love to try the loose textured waves like the ones seen at Chloé. “This look is flattering to all women and easy to create!” says Hines. Apply full frame 07 protective volumizing mousse to damp hair, rough dry then curl section by section and loosely set against head and let cool. Once all sections are done, release curls and gently brush through with a paddle brush. Blast hair at
roots with a blow-dryer for added volume and texture.
These are all strong, positive and forceful looks that can each be adapted to suit different personalities, hair types and face shapes. Any woman can carry these looks with the right stylist recommendations and products. Experiment with your hair and have fun! These styles can enhance your look and bring out the best in you this season! For more detailed information on Tracy Hines Studio salon services and products or to arrange a media interview with

Tracy - Stylist
Fall is the time of year when the color of the season brings lots of inspiration to hair and clothing fashion. And this is not one of those seasons to miss. I got to check out the new hair collections from Paul Mitchell at a recent class. Plums, coppers and variations of The Bob are all in style. Lots of dramatic effects for your haircut & color needs. We learned how to take style from the Runway and transfer it to everyday wear.
Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Lavender & Mint shampoo is now available in a body wash and body lotion. They also have a great new hair tool that can be used as a straightner or large curl iron. On longer
hair it gives a spiral curl effect. Ask me for details.
Starting next month I’ll be putting together gift bags and baskets for your holiday shopping needs.

Marsha - Stylist
With the summer months gone, it’s time to leave bleached and faded hair color on the beach. The look for the fall is warmer, more customized colors that promote shine and depth. I love the fall palette of golden
apricot, caramels, and warm reds that blend naturally. Talk to your stylist about Deeping your color. Last year the look was matt and this fall shine is a major factor. This can be achieved many ways. A deep conditioning treatment after the summer sun (what we had of it) is a great start. Also products that add shine such as A/G hair cosmetics VARNISH. This is a wonderful product with tremendous versatility. VARNISH can be used by itself in its liquid spray form, or chose VARNISH lotion that can be added to any styling product for that extra shine that's to FALL for.

Patti - Esthetician & Manicurist
My name is Patti Murby, and I am an Esthetician and Manicurist at Face Works Plus.
Now is the season for exfoliation! Slough off that dry, dehydrated summer skin to reveal softer, smother, cleaner skin. A facial is a must in the fall! Manicure and Pedicures are also much needed this time of year to maintain healthy hands, nails, and feet.

Chris - Esthetician
This is a perfect time of year to think about exfoliating away all that dry dead summer skin and start feeding and strengthen new skin. What better way then skin friendly chemical peels formulation that contain biocompatible as licorice extract, willow bark to minimize irritation and topical antioxidants to infuse skin's restorative nutrients. Superficial chemical peels have a proven track record for correcting difficult skin conditions. Examples: Acne, hyper pigmentation, rosacea, and chronological and environmental aging (fine lines).
Most treatments take 1/2 hour to perform and there is little or no downtime. The only visible proof is a brighter, smoother and firmer looking skin. With most peels a care regime, including products is provided for best results. Cost of the treatment is between $50- $65 and results last anywhere from 4-8 weeks
